Parenting is a journey of learning
Mindful Parenting Matters exists to help parents and children build more mindful, connected, and supportive relationships—starting in Nepal and reaching families wherever they are.
Helping families learn and grow together
We believe parenting is not about becoming a perfect parent. It is about becoming more aware, understanding our children and ourselves, and finding better ways to connect through the everyday challenges of family life.
Our simple vision is to use what we learn to help parents and children in Nepal and beyond. We want to make useful parenting knowledge practical, accessible, and relevant to real family life.
Four principles that guide us
These principles shape how we think about parenting, learning, and the kind of community we want Mindful Parenting Matters to be.
Connection before correction
Children learn through relationships. We believe guidance works best when children feel safe, heard, and connected. Before asking how to change a behaviour, we can ask what our child may be experiencing and what our relationship needs right now.
No shame, ever
Parenting already comes with enough guilt and self-doubt. We do not believe shame helps parents or children grow. We create space to acknowledge what did not go well, understand why, and try again—with kindness and compassion.
Progress over perfection
There will be difficult days, big emotions, mistakes, and moments we wish we could redo. Mindful parenting is not about getting everything right. It is about becoming more aware, repairing when things go wrong, and continuing to learn.
Learn, don't follow blindly
There is no single parenting formula that works for every family. We explore ideas from parenting research, child development, mindfulness, communication, and lived experience—and encourage parents to think critically and find what is meaningful for their family.
A growing journey of learning
Why we started
Mindful Parenting Matters grew from a simple belief: when we understand ourselves better, we can support our children better. Parenting is one of the most important journeys we take, yet most of us learn as we go—through experience, mistakes, questions, books, conversations, and the everyday realities of family life.
A journey of learning
Our learning has come from many places: parenting books and trainings, personal experience, mindfulness and meditation, yoga, communication and NLP techniques, and professional experiences in leadership, facilitation, and working with people. We do not believe that one approach has all the answers. Instead, we bring together useful ideas and explore how they can be understood and applied in everyday family life.
More than parenting tips
Mindful Parenting Matters is more than a collection of parenting tips.
We hope to build a community where parents can:
- learn about parenting and child development
- become more aware of their own responses and emotions
- explore mindful and respectful ways of connecting with children
- find practical tools for everyday parenting challenges
- learn from different perspectives and experiences
- feel encouraged rather than judged
Because when parents have the space to learn and grow, children benefit too.
Mindful parenting matters. And so does the journey of getting there.
